About Cynthia
Cynthia graduated with a Master of Arts: Counselling Psychology at City University of Seattle. She works with teenagers, young adults, international students, and parents from immigrant families—particularly within Asian communities—supporting clients in navigating life transitions, family challenges, and emotional stress. She specializes in fostering healthier communication, emotional regulation, empathy, and mutual understanding within couples and family relationships.
Having moved to Canada as an international student and later navigating life independently as a young immigrant adult, Cynthia brings a deep understanding of the loneliness, cultural adjustment, identity challenges, and emotional stress that can accompany major life transitions. Her academic research on international students’ mental health and acculturation stress complements this lived experience, allowing for a culturally sensitive and comprehensive approach to counselling.
Cynthia practices from an integrative, person-centred perspective, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique personality, cultural background, and life experiences. Therapeutic approaches include:
-
Gottman Couple Therapy
-
Family Systems Therapy
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
-
Person-Centred Therapy
-
Psychodynamic Therapy
-
Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy
Her goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where clients can build emotional resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop greater self-awareness. Mental wellness is approached not only as symptom management, but as fostering personal growth, balance, meaningful connections, and a stronger sense of self.
