About Natasha

Natasha Etherington is currently studying her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. Natasha also has a BA in European History and German (hons) from West London University (UK) and a certification in horticultural therapy (VanDusen Botanical Gardens, Vancouver).

Natasha's psychotherapy practice is grounded in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) weaving solutions focused brief therapy (SFBT); emotion family focused therapy (EFFT); positive; motivational, couple therapy and trauma focused CBT in session. Natasha has completed both UBC's Gender Affirming Care Program and the Addiction Care and Treatment Course. Natasha is a 2SLGBTQIA+ ally and practices learning with cultural humility. Spirituality in all its many forms is also a particular interest of Natasha's.

Since 2022 Natasha supervises the youth mental health wellness programs and both family and youth peer support at Foundry Ridge Meadows. This is a multidisciplinary center for mental health for youth aged 12 – 24, a BC Children’s Hospital initiative. Prior to this Natasha worked for an intensive case management team at RainCity Housing supporting vulnerable people and as Resident Horticultural Therapist at Langley Lodge Long Term Care working with older adults with dementia and head injuries.

Natasha is a published author; her book is an international seller through Jessica Kingsley publishers entitled “Gardening for Children with ASD and Special Educational Needs”. Natasha is passionate about utilizing gardening activities, nature and fauna as a positive means to combat anxiety, promote sensory integration and build social skills. This was the start of Natasha's mindfulness journey.

Natasha served on the American Horticultural Therapy Board as Editor-in-Chief of the AHTA quarterly magazine from 2013-2015 and has presented at both the Canadian and American Annual Conferences. Natasha is the recipient of the 2014 AHTA Book Publication Award.

Natasha hasn't always worked in the health care field. Previously in the UK Natasha worked in television for the BBC and supported her husband's consultancy business. Natasha finds peace by spending time with her family, walking her dog, riding her bike and swimming in the beautiful lakes of BC.
